The CBCB

Thought of today:
"To give happiness to others is a grat act of charity"

The Cyber Book Club of Bloggers
I had a suggestion from a bloging buddy Jelly Bellyhttp://jellybellynonsense.blogspot.com/ , and backed up by other bloggers; to have some type of a book club for the bloggers. An idea formed in my head to create another grouped blog and name it "The Cyber Book Club of Bloggers", this blog is to be totally dedicated for books that members of the group read and want to post about for the benefit of all. At this stage consider this post as a brain storming session; all creative ideas on the design, process, and layout of the proposed blog are appreciated, and bloggers who wish to join in the group are most welcome.

Man it doesn't matter what it looks like. Lets just do it lol. Books are so beautiful as it is, and the smell of the paper for me is intoxicating, Yalla start it so I can get my net card emptied at amazon.com
hey all you guys who lived abroad, did you notice we dont have a coffee shop like the ones there where books are available to read onlocation or to buy?
How about a business project?
There was one in Jordan called Books@cafe which ws a beautiful place. Two stories house, upstairs was the cafe and net, and down stairs the bookshop with bean bags for book worms. Now thats a hangout place!

Sounds like a great idea. If you need any type of hosting, or some sort of website that allows for community dicussion like a forum I can easily set it up.

Using blogger would be a good start, but if more people will be joining it would have problems scaling and handling the load.

Thankx for the invaluable information buddy, and we will be needing a lot of your help in that. So, what is the maximum number a grouped blog can handle? So far we have five that have confirmed; JB, Beatnik, DJ, Q and me.

Q
Consider yourself in.

Rabab thanks babe, I didn't know that the idea will actually come into life and I'm glad to see we already have people who are interested.
I would love it if we can share our thoughts on books although I’m sort of rusty, the last book I read was about a year ago.
Let me know if I could do anything but I have to say I'm technologically challenged but I just want to offer my services.
I can’t wait for The Cyber Book Club :)

Members do not have the obligation to post, only when they finish a good book, they should be free to post about it in the convenience of their own time, and I do realize that you are a student and that your time is comparatively limited, so do you mean by your comment that you are in as a member?

I'm still waiting for your answer on the above, and what do you think of having a new URL that belongs to all members, would that take off the load and make it more user-friendly? And the available templates on blogspot are not so attractive, can you help in this area as well, we all do appreciate your help. You can e-mail me on my yahoo address if you prefer; rabkh@yahoo.com

It's ok sweetie, I had an e-mail concerning this issue and I have replied back and waiting for the response. It seems like we are in for a more professional project. I don't want to comment on that at this stage till I'm completely sure, so just hang in there and cross your fingers.

Great Idea, actually a friend of mine has a site where she posts stuff she likes about her and stuff.. and one of the most important things on her list is her "Books of the Month List" she makes it a habit to at least read 4-5 books a month and she writes the names and reviews the best book she read for that month.. If you'd like I'll give you her address.. so you can check it out :) But I'm in, sort of hehehe :P

Ok, so this is the news
The correspondence between Nibaq and I has finally resulted in having a plan which needs to be discussed between the nominated members and the ones that are willing to join so we could reach the final decision:
Nibaq can set a separate forum under the domain ( bookclub.plus965.com), this has more advantages than having The CBCB under a blog:

1- A space for all to read and join in later if they wish by registering, therefore more members can be added without the fear of being overloaded.
2- Can have a separate page dedicated for members to have random updates.
3- Can be set in one day period for Q8 community on the main domain (blog965.com), and with some modification other communities will be added right after that.
4- More user-friendly

Now the main issue that I need all member's approval on is the categories, so far we have came up with the following:
1- Book Reviews & rating (a five star type a thing)
2-Creativity; write your own (where members can write their own stories)
3-About the author
4-Book Club(This is where people can read the same book and start a large thread about it)

Now if you do agree with these categories or have more to add or modify please let me know so I will give the green light to our buddy Nibaq to start setting the forum
Thank you all.

No dear, it's never too late, consider yourself in.
I just want to give this post more time before e-mailing Nibaq about the categories, just in case someone has any additions or modifications. Then I'll send e-mails to all members to start registering when the project comes to life.

Ok, by now I think this post has taken enough of its share of time and I'm assuming since you did not object, change or add to the plan that you all agree on the main categories involved. So far the members are eight: JB, Beatnik, DJ, Q, Jackie, Nuttimilius, مبتدئ and me. I will write to Nibaq now and will post you as soon as I get a feedback from him. Good luck to all of us; pioneers, and let's hit the road.
