Elections II

Election time has its own flavor in Kuwait. The whole country looks like …. a chaos.
Driving around can be very dangerous with all the posters and banners blocking the driver’s vision, some posters are creative and some are disgusting.

Repetitive posters; is this some sort of psychology?
Uncivilized; coming from a doctor!

????????

I asked a friend of mine about the reason for some candidates to run, especially when they know that they don’t have any chance to win against prominent figures that have a large electoral base. I know some who have only their family members and very few neighbors to back them up, yet, they won’t hesitate to bear the expenses for the preparations. And this is what he said:
These candidates, especially the ones running in a district where there are other candidates who would pay extravagantly to win the elections are called extras; they wait till few days before the elections and then make a deal with such a candidate to sell him whatever votes he could gather in return to his withdrawal. His neighbors and relatives would be paid and the rest would go in his pocket, in other words it’s all about business baby.

Disturbing scene

Creative scene… yet

Location is an art

Does she think that by blocking the driver’s vision she has a chance in getting his vote?

All I can think about is all the rubbish that will have to be picked up and thrown away after June 29.

All these posters are awful and make one feel angry towards the candidates.

I can understand the hysteria; however, these posters are ugly, cause pollution, can cause accidents by obstructing the view of traffic, and when it was windy alot of them fell into the streets.

If the elections were held in the time they are supposed to be held, then people would have time to prepare to rent the big bill boards for their political campaign.

Advertising a political candidate must be more organized and responsible than this is.

Important post Ayya.

It’s not only the size, it’s also the location. Yesterday I almost bumped into another car coming from the other direction. The driver of the other car raised her hand swearing at me and I kept cussing the owner of the poster.

Beautiful pictures Ayya & thank you for every thing you're doing. I just have one comment on the last picture, it's creative granted, but is it really apropriate? I mean, the woman is exploiting her daughter for publicity!! These people are not taking themselves or this matter seriously .. it's insulting!!

Well, I don’t think that it’s insulting; it’s more like adding some icing to the cake. It gives an indication that she cares about future generation. Why not? But the locations she used defies the purpose, if she cares about our kids; the new generation, she should have paid attention not to place her posters in awkward places, blocking driver’s vision and causing accidents.
