Looking for God
It has been said that each of us has a God-shaped hole inside where we spend most of our lives trying to fill it with the wrong things. And nothing is wrong with that I may add, if what is filled inside satisfy the beholder’s spirituality completely, without a single doubt that may alter his belief or deprive it of the spiritual peak he is thriving to achieve. And what could be better than seeking to fulfill this need through religion? Yet, most of religions are enforced dogmas that might momentarily or for a period of a lifetime satisfy spirituality since it's preaching is supposedly based on ethics as well as scriptures of spiritual elations, like chanting and mantra. But in spite of its moral teachings, it’s full of contradictions that ruin the basic understanding of humanity by segregating people into categories to set an identity for each and consider others just outsiders. This creates doubts that annoy the hole inside and shake it unless one intentionally ignores these facts and settles for a private relationship between God and himself. But religion is all about totalitarianism; it can’t be segmented as per the will of man. Besides; religions portray man as helpless being with a preset fate and suppresses the role of his mind. If that what God intended us to be, then why didn’t he create angles instead? Or why wasn’t religion successful in fighting evil inside man? And to quote Bernard Russell in his book “Why I Am Not a Christian”: “One is often told that it is very wrong to attack religion because religion makes men virtuous. So I am told; I have not noticed it”. But not having a religious belief could also distort the concept of immortality. Humans strive for it and religions promise immortality; no one can accept the mere idea that we only live once, and there is no other life after death. This may seem like our lives mean nothing, which is too hard for the mind to accept, but on a closer look; we see that actually no-thing could also mean everything you got, all what you got is in the Here and Now, and you’d better divert your efforts to make the best of WHAT YOU GOT, using your own mind to direct you in the logical path. Here, I’m not implying that eternity is finite, but what if it is? So I believe that the hole inside is already filled and it is powerful, and its power comes from the “will”, yet we tend to ignore it and look outside, in books or take it form the word of mouth of others while it is buried deep in the self. Allegorically speaking; every one of us is God and we have the power to make things happen.
This whole argument came to mind while I was watching Jim Carrey’s movie
“Bruce Almighty”.The movie questions man’s ability to handle God’s divine powers if he was given that power, and as per the director of the movie; life would be a chaos. But what if each and every one of us had that power? Then things would level out, don’t you think?
Assuming that we already have this power and that every thought counts; a negative thought creates bad circumstances and positive thoughts create good ones. And putting this assumption in mind, would man ever create bad circumstances for himself? Would anyone of us for a second bring about bad thoughts?
It’s good at this point to mention Ramtha who has a school based on this concept. In one of her DVD’s
“Create Your Day”, she gives hands on experience on how man can reestablish this power which is like a dormant volcano awaiting to be released. Her teachings are based on quantum physics; the science of all possibilities. I have tried her technique myself and it worked, not immediately, since things take time, but I have seen signs that led me to believe that whatever I wanted to create was bound to happen, I just needed to be insistent and confidant that it would happen. It’s worth a try.

Beautiful thoughts as usual.
I don’t know who’s Ramtha, but I tried doing that, I mean creating something that I wanted to happen, and it worked. All I needed was confidence and determination.

I think what basically Ramtha says is that one should chose a time of the day when the mind is still fresh, like when you wake up in the morning. At that time visualize what you want, and to begin with try concentrating on one thing at a time and demand it to happen on that same day or at least demand to see some signs that what you had wished for is bound to happen. And if nothing happened, repeat it over and over because may be you are not doing it right. But I think it takes more than determination, you actually should believe that it would happen and prepare all what you need to do accordingly as if there is nothing to stop it. There is a thin line between hoping that something will happen and actually knowing that it would happen. This was my problem when I started, it was more like hoping or you might say praying with an embedded doubt that it might not manifest. But once I changed my attitude, not thinking about it at all and confidant that if it did not happen today it will happen tomorrow. It also depends on what I really want, like do I really want this thing to happen or may be I’m not so sure?
Thanks for sharing sweetie
enlightening!
Looking for God within ourselves is a great, noble and hard task in the same time. It's how we think God is.
So I think that ill-minded people will find "looking for God" an easy Job, since they will find him instanly without any mental effort. and the "God" they'll find is the "wrong" one.
People need to be aware of ideas, thought, religions and philosphies, at least a general knowledge, so they can use the collective human mind to assist their minds in finding "God".
Just as Averroes (Ibn Rushd) puts it "no one will know Allah like
الراسخين في العلم"

concerning your comment above (see: Ramtha)
Firstly, it reminded me of the way political-religous groups recruit their new apprentices in social circles... I don't know why, but that what bounced in my head.
It's the idea of:
Do it the "right way", and you'll reach the "right way".
I know it's a general idea, but as I wrote in the begining, the fear is what kind of "God" ill-minded people will find.
I'm exhausting my mind... and I don't know if what I wrote makes sense.

P.S. You use long paragraphs, and it hurt my eyes :(

Ill minded people prosecuted Averroes, and he was destined to a mysterious death. While more open minded people adapted his teachings and made him a legend he rightfully deserved.
Sorry for the long sentences dear, I’ll try next time to make them shorter.
About Ramtha’s school, it’s way too far from any religion or God as we learned about from history and religion books. Her ideology is that every one of us (literally is God), it does not matter what is the ideology here so long that you believe that God is within you and that He has given you powers you are not aware of. It’s her technique that I’m interested in to test these powers. But I know what you mean :)

I knew you would ;)
woohoo .. here here Ayya, I tip my hat, curtesy, bow low & everything else in the book I do for you right now!! It's about time someone said something about this ;DDDD
THIS is what life is, THIS is what God is, THIS is the missing link .. and how happy we would all be if THIS was realized!! Euphoric innit!! *I know I spelt it wrong* ;P
Idip,
I don't agree with u on that one. See the truth for me .. or the God inside of me .. could be an untruth for u!! Truth is relative to the person it is in .. once it leaves that person to another it would be another persons truth .. therefor .. his untruth! I believe that each individual has a right to his own truth .. and they may not be so different in essence .. only in philosophy & method! Am I making any sense?!! I hope so ;)

Do you need to believe in a God and religion in order to feel of significance in this world? What if there were no God, would you be able to live decently, knowing that there's no afterlife, heaven or hell? Would you be able to live contently without feeling hollow? Without feeling as aimless as the chair you're sitting on?
Or do you need to believe in, worship and fear a God, whom we only do our good deeds for to either be rewarded by him or to avoid his wrath?
I can honestly say that personally, I believe that God is all that is decent, true and good. And with that definition of God, I believe that God, is in our goodness. Don't underestimate the human spirit, it's will, cpacity to love, forgive and tolerate. Ayya, for example, represented God to me through her piece. I believe that in her goodness in exerting the effort needed to write her piece, she represented God.
Very sensible words Hazolat, I’m really touched by the depth of your thoughts.
